Guitar Hero makers in trouble again, no doubt
The latest in rock stars vs video games sees No Doubt taking legal action against Activision in a bid to have their likeness removed from Band Hero. The group signed a deal with the games company, but now claim the manufacturers did not adhere to contract stipulations.
Similar to the Kurt Cobain Guitar Hero travesty, No Doubt are understandably peeved their characters can be made to perform more than 60 songs - not the three No Doubt songs they were supposed to be limited to.
Adding insult to injury, Gwen Stefani can be made to sing in a male voice to tracks like The Rolling Stones' 'Honky Tonk Woman'. Court documents state, "While No Doubt are avid fans of The Rolling Stones ... the Character Manipulation Feature results in an unauthorised performance by the Gwen Stefani avatar in a male voice choir boasting about having sex with prostitutes."
Tsk, tsk, Activision.
